Before we all switch into summer mode, crank up the BBQs, and pretend pavlova is a personality trait, it’s worth taking a moment to look back at what we’ve built together in 2025.
New Feature Drop: Project Templates
Sneaking in one last new feature drop before we sign off for 2025 - No Joni Mitchell CD in your Christmas stocking, we’ve got Project templates finally rocking out!
It should be no secret by now that we like to keep ROLL snappy. This new feature is going to save you oodles of time, standardise your workflow and eliminate that oh so tedious (and repetitive) project set up admin. Build a template once, roll it out foreverrrrrr.
Whether you’re onboarding new clients, kicking off a standard service package, or managing recurring jobs, templates keep everything consistent, fast, and beautifully organised. CTRL C and CTRL V have been holding down the fort for far too long, they can finally go on that long awaited couples cruise they’ve been dreaming of.
Project templates is now live for all ROLL users, go check it out!

In case you were a bit trigger happy and ✨ accidentally ✨ deleted one of our previous updates (it’s ok, we forgive you), here are the other updates you have missed!
The Heavy Hitters
We went for quality over quantity in 2025, with 2 comprehensive feature releases making there way into the ROLL stack. First up we welcomed custom reports, finally putting the power in your hands to get the exact data you need instantly - informed decision making has never been easier.
Most recently we rolled out purchase order and bills, which is basically a two-for-one feature release (you lucky ducks). Our dev team really pulled out all the stops with this one, even working closely with some of our customers to work out any kinks and ensure it’s one smooth operator.
The Notable Mentions
We also spent a good chunk of 2025 tightening bolts, smoothing edges, and exterminating any pesky bugs from across ROLL. Your everyday experience should now feel smoother and more reliable than ever, and here’s why:
- Ability to set a default sort on project lists
- Ability to import quote lines as progress payments
- Improved management of time records for inactive users
- Invoice/Quote BCC now allows for multiple emails
- Fixed display bugs with task notes
- The contacts displayed when sending an invoice are now sorted alphabetically
- Automatic creation of a supplier record in ROLL when importing Xero costs
- Standard reports now show the filters/date-range chosen at the top of the exported PDF
- Fixed issue where changing any data in the time entry popup, updated the rate $ value when it shouldn't.
- Client contacts now are available in our API
- Fix for no schedule task option appearing when viewing tasks by date
2026 Prospects
Looking ahead to the new year, here is what is currently in the works—yes we’ve been busy!
- New Business Metrics Dashboard
- An updated mobile app including our start/stop timer functionality
- WIP/Writeup-Writedown reports
- 2FA Logins
- Improved performance of Est Month End calculations which should speed up Roll for everyone
- Client/Supplier merge feature.
A Big Thanks
None of this happens without you. Your feedback, ideas, bug finds and “is this meant to do that?” messages all help shape ROLL into what it is today.
Huge thanks to our customers for keeping it real and our dev team for turning big ideas into real features. We’re heading into 2026 with plenty more to build. Until then, enjoy the break and we’ll see you on the other side.
Cheers,
Team ROLL
