Improved roles and permissions
Finally! We’ve been asked for this a lot over the years so we’re very pleased to bring you finer control over what your users can see or do in ROLL.
Along with other permissions, your EMPLOYEE users can now be given permission to do the invoicing, or you can remove the ability for one of your ADMIN users to do the invoicing and more.
Head to the user's area in your ROLL settings to manage permission levels for each user.
Ability for Admin's to adjust other staff time records
Another one we’ve been asked for for a long time now. As an ADMIN user, you can now edit time records entered by other team members. No more having to go back to the team member to get them to adjust their time entry, or rate, if it’s entered wrong!
Ability for employees to see other employees tasks
Sounds simple right? But for a long time we purposefully hid other team members tasks from being seen by other users unless you were an admin. Now this is no more and any ADMIN or EMPLOYEE user can see the tasks that other people have to do as well, getting a full picture of the project at hand.
Quote and Invoice Delivery/Open/Click tracking
If your client hasn’t paid you, you can now see if they’ve actually received and opened your invoice and are just dodging you! Well, maybe that’s not quite the case but from today, you will start to see in the history of quotes and invoices, a log of successful delivery and any opens or clicks so you can be sure that your clients are receiving everything you send.
Ability to restart a retainer
Another small change that will hopefully have a big impact! Now, if any of your client retainers go “on hold” you can simply end the retainer and restart it again later if you need to by just re-entering the retainer information and you’re away.
Other small changes
If that's not already enough, here's a list of some other small changes and fixes we've released in the month of April:
- Show the rate name as well as rate value in the timesheet
- Fixed quote/invoice text search so that it searches all invoices and not just those currently visible on-screen
- Added Company Names to Project lists in our mobile app (iOS only, Android update coming soon) so that you can easily see which project is which when you have similar project names across clients
- "Sticky" actions buttons - now when you have long time or task lists in a project, your Save and Actions buttons won't be a huge scroll away, instead, they should 'stick' to the bottom of the screen and always be available.
